The municipal workers deputed in the Rangji ka Nagla in the Radha Niwas area of Vrindavan join hands with the FoV staff to clean the area under the Vrindavan Cleaning Fund programme. A joint operation on street cleaning was organised to clean that area which was being neglected for a long period. The Cleanliness Drive was sponsored by the Yash Birla Group. The garbage was transported to the landfill site with the mini-dumpers donated by the Tata Motors Ltd.
The programme was jointly supervised by the supervisors of the municipality and Friends of Vrindavan. Five persons each from FoV and Municipality cleaned the area for seven hours. The area was cleaned last time nearly six months back according to Uma Devi a women resident of the area. One of the resident of the locality complained that even after visiting many times to the sanitation office, the municipality didn’t send the cleaning team. He said that ‘it appears that the municipal force is engaged in the VIP locations of the town’.
The massive awareness campaign was also organised under the leadership of the BVHA senior member Shri Madhumangal Shukla. The municipal were motivated and promised their full support for such joint operations whenever it is organised.
This cleanliness drive will continue for a week which will end up with a community meeting to be held in that area. A Residential Welfare Association or ward committee will be formed with the councillor of the area being the President of it. Then a proper garbage management scheme of that area can be implemented with the coordination of the municipality.
