Friends of Vrindavan’s Founding Trustee and Member Secretary HH Acharya Shrivatsa Goswami have been invited to participate in a conference to be organised on 7th February 2012 on the occasion of World Interfaith Harmony Week. This conference is organised on the behest of the United Nations General Assembly President His Excellency Mr. Nassir Abdul Aziz Al-Naseer at the UN Head Quarters in New York. The conference is named as the Common Ground for the Common Good.
It is the matter of pride for FoV and people of Vrindavan that Maharaj ji has been requested to represent the World Hindu Community. Talking to the press His Holiness Maharaj ji said that this programme will provide the opportunity for representatives of various religious communities’ faith-based organizations, followers of wisdom traditions and indigenous people, to share their insights in relation to topics that concern all of us.
Its goal is to recognize the historical good done by people of all faiths in many of the areas of the work of the United Nations as well as the current successful partnerships in various parts of the world between the UN agencies and religious groups particularly in meeting the humanitarian needs of disaster-stricken people. Such partnerships are indicators of the common ground that exists among religious organisations, and all of us who strive for peace and human development.
Maharaj ji said that it is the need of the hour that India and the Hindu tradition in particular should strengthen the objectives of the United Nations. The sustainable development is possible when the religious institutions and the civil societies work in proper coordination.
It should be noted that recently Maharaj ji was invited by the Pope Benedict in a conference in Assisi to represent the Hindu tradition.
